petitioning for 2 additional character slots per game key instead of per campaign?
I have the full 9 slots for 4 original, +2 Factions, +1 pre-NF, +2 NightFall... and want more without having to resort to giving my credit card #, or even worse my address and telephone to marketing geniuses...
I've seen lots of threads out there covering these topics in the past, but most of that has died down since the store opened up with the extra character slot for $10.
What I'm proposing is to have them add 2 character slots per game key you add to your account instead of per continent... It would be a solution to not only those who don't want to give address info for just a game and give people extra incentives to purchase the extra Collector's Edition/Game of the Year Edition... and wouldn't require stores to have an extra package selling the $10 character slot either... A win all around, n'est pas?

This would be a very bad idea as people would just have masses of charater slots. Anet have the online store where they sell character slots and as far as I am aware these sell very well. Anet would not make somthing like this. They sell keys for $10 when you can buy the prophecies special edition for $15 which comes with 2 keys in it. With your idea this would add 4 slots to your acount which would normally cost $40 from the store.

Since they give 2 slots for each "campaign", adding a key from a full version should add 2 slots.
Example:
If you go and buy the Collector's Edition of Prophecies, you would get 2 slots and the Divine Aura when the key is added to your account.

What the heck. If they want to pay $40 for 2 more this way, as opposed to $10 each through the game store, then who am I to say no.
Thx!

You mean, if you get another spare key (for example, if you receive two games as a birthady present) being able to add that keys?
Fine for me. You can't sell them anyways.

First, how do you figure 4 extra slots? I said 2 slots per game, not 4.
Second, that's why i said that this was for those who don't want to give credit card and address info for just a game..? GW special edition is $30-50 dollars, so why not be able to get 2 extra slots as well as the items? or if I choose to upgrade to special edition I'd like an extra 2 slots as well... I have a hard time accepting paying $70 for just some special dances... If I were to receive two extra slots I'd buy it.

Heh, my question is how can you delete a character you've invested time and thought into? It would be like throwing out a part of you.

I regularly throw out and replace my kidneys. I don't know what you're implying with your comment...
But seriously, what's your problem with giving credit card and address information? Their client is secure, so no one but Anet would be getting this info. It's not like they're going to start sending out junk mail to your address.. they don't even send anything through email.
But then again, if you want to spend twice as much money just to get a couple of character slots, then I say change it. More money for Anet means better quality game.

So...you want to pay $30-$60 for two character slots that would cost $10($5 each)?
Seems pretty stupid to me. :/
But hey, it's your choice, I suppose.

Just a bad idea, and if you're not willing to purchase something online, that's your problem, not anet's.

I agree wtih some of the concepts in this thread. But overall wouldn't it just be better to keep the character slots the way they are? And to appease the people who are just hungry for extra slots hold an annual competition with one free slot as a prize? That way if you want a free slot without having to give away your credit card # or whatever then do the tourney while the rest of us do things the way we want to do them. And if anyone's actally willing to pay for an entire game for 2 slots when they could've just bought them off the online store for $10-$20, then there is something wrong with ya.

I think 2 slots per game key is too much. I think every account should get an additional 2 slots, though.
8 slots, 10 professions? More, please!

/notsigned. Anet needs money too.
I'm sure a lot of people will sign this, but that's exactly the reason Anet doesn't listen to online petitions. It's like opening a vote to lower all taxes by 90%. I'm sure you'll get a lot of votes, yet at the same time you mess up the entire economy.

Shonmi, it'd be cheaper to use a credit card. If you don't want to use a real one, get a visa gift card or something like that.
Anyways /notsigned because the gift cards are cheaper to get more character slots.
Another idea would be for anet to sell character slot keys in stores for people who prefer cash or can't get a gift card.

Why are people not signing this... There's no disadvantage to /anyone/ if this goes through. No one at all. Buying additional slots is already an available feature in Guild Wars, adding another way to do it, what the hell is the problem again? If this guy wants to give Anet more money so they can make the game better, that's fine by me, it's HIS money, and it doesn't affect ANYONE else's game in ANY way. You guys don't seem to /think/ things through before "notsigned lololol for dumb reasons I can't justify"

Are you sure you know what he is talking about? He is paying 40+ dollars for 2 more chars slots instead of 20 online. I dont see why they dont want to do this.

With this idea, ANet would be earning more money per character slot than through the online store (ignoring material, packaging, and any shipping fees they pay). With this people would be paying $30+US for just 2 slots compared to $10 per slot. The only time that slots will be cheaper than through their site is if you find a place selling a chapter for less than $20.
This is saying: let there be a way to pay for new slots without a credit card. If people want to pay more using a check or cash in person, why not let them?
/signed, no reason I can think of not to.

The 'ideal' scenario for this being a good adition is a gift.
Let's say you are always bothering family about GW when they ask you wich games you like...
Net Xmas/Birthday/Religious festivity/Valentines/Whatever... you are gifted with 2 or more copies of any GW game.
They haven't asked. You don't have the tickets to send them back...
Instead of selling it again on eBay or something stupid like that...
Why not add the key to get some more slots?
Yup... nice idea...
